    Just got a 1462 V hull boat

Nice rig. Dont overlook trailer maintenance. Grease the wheel bearings, use WD40 or Blaster on the jack, winch and trailer coupling. When you decide you're done for the year cover the coupling with a couple plastic grocery bags after you spray it. Pull the drain plug and keep the trasom tilted down

Charge batteries as soon a you get home, If you have a trolling motor just tap the pedal with the motor nested to get ant excess water out of the prop area too. I'll be out until it looks like the lakes are ready to freeze. There will be bass tournaments on Harveys until the lake caps over.

    Just got a 1462 V hull boat

A 9.9 motor probably doesnt many prop options. If you're getting up on plane easily you're probably where you should be. No reason to worry about the cold. Me and several of my buddies bump ice sheets around in the late fall and very early spring. Just make sure you get all the water drained...

    Just got a 1462 V hull boat

Welcome aboard. Best of luck with the boat. The safe boater course is a good idea but not requied in your case. You will get good info from it. A Pennsylvania Boat License is required for anyone 12 and older who operates a personal watercraft, or anyone born on or after January 1, 1982 who...

I've never seen a price hike. I do the same thing. Theres are always better/cheaper places. Advantage with TW is they have everything especially bass tackle. Always the newest tackle. I often go there to find whats new and shop around from that.

    Transition time

Got on Harveys Lake for a while this week. Changes are happening, On Harveys most of the summer bait balls suspend over 50-80 feet of water. The fall move is happening with bait forming into huge schools moving shallower. This pic is a school in 32 feet. This school is about 20 feet...

Cut Bait and trout as Cut Bait

Trout are a prime striper bait on Wallenpaupack especially Nov - April. The bait store near the lake sells a lot to ice fisherman. 4-6". Last I heard $3.50 apiece. I have a friend that fishes cats a lot on the Susky in the spring and he says trout heads are the best bait. They get some trout...

    4 Strand vs 8 or 13 strand

I wouldnt be using a baitcaster when chasing panfish. Thin line is a big help when fishing for deep pannies. 20 - 35 feet is a long way down with light baits. Light line or leader is necessary for for the small baits. If you are on a brushpile, tree, or any cover holding fish vertical is easier...

    4 Strand vs 8 or 13 strand

I only had braid on my buzzbait rod. Last spring I did add 12# to a light spinning rod for panfish. Stuff is thin!! It did ok but not still so great to swap them all out to it. Not enjoyable tying 4# floro leader to braid the size of sewing thread in 45 degrees and a 10mph wind. I did develop...
