St Croix Disgust and tying my own blanks

10’ 2-6 lbs 2 piece at most, half recoil, half tall single foot expense plated guides, with a split grip cork? I know the answer but I don’t want that to be the answer 😂

St Croix Disgust and tying my own blanks

I saw the 13something Omen and didn’t hate the fenwick. My gripe is I want a very unique, ok odd, rod for most types of fishing I do. I’ll pay a lot if I get the features I want and the support I expect. Sadly both are maybe a bygone era.

I know TS will remind me he warned me about St Croix going downhill! I know I know, I just wanted more for them I guess

St Croix Disgust and tying my own blanks

I waited 3 mos and no response on repairing my Premium rod, only need a guide, and anything that can be done with my Darling Imperial. Wasn’t holding out much hope on that one. I own at least 6 of their rods and started buying vintage ones as well. I called this week. I never ever call, I’m...

    Record CO Brookie

Maybe normal foliage, golden birch? Sounds like it’s a real thing but I’m making stuff up.

Birch look awful yellow for a recent catch though.

    Record CO Brookie

Supposedly second time in a week the 75 year record was broke. First one got fried so no proof. This one was almost 27” and 8 lbs a bunch of ounces!

    Captain Don

I’m fairly certain he’s thought of it 107 times prior. Don, get well, fish pops aren’t sustainable without you keeping them in check eating shiners, 12” carp, and such!

Still use the worksharp station. Took getting used to but gets them sharp. After 30 or 50 deer I found a worksharp and my life got better! Won’t tolerate a dull knife ever again.

The first side before it went too deep in sink was cleaner cut. I usually use a knife we got when the elderly couple we bought our first house from left it behind. It needs new handles/scales but it’s cleaned a ton of game over the years. Maybe 100 whitetail and countless fish. Plus a few Bear...

Yep, quick work in sink with cleaver. Not my finest work but then again I don’t have fine work when it comes to filleting. Last side I wasn’t as clean with tail meat. I used paring knife and not much extra came off but looks sloppy. I was rushing, kids are waiting at fire pit for a...

[Archived] What did you Catch Today?

I NEED a bigger net! Lol. This is a Fishpond Nomad. The 14.5 lbs one earlier this spring wasn’t going in it.

[Archived] What did you Catch Today?

Insomnia ruined my early AM plans. Convinced myself to go out at noon. Hot water a little after 1. Didn’t get a real chance until I waded away from people. Not super crowded but being a part of the hatcheries it’s tough getting time alone on the creek there. Super low but cold water from...

Not all bad with trout. Just need them in pounds and preferably double digits. I use any kitchen knife. Tried a half dozen fillet knives and now just grab whatever knife is closest.

Looking like my first fishing trip in a while. Something will die I suspect regardless of 80 or -80.
