    Baitcasters

Line breaks at the weakest point. Thats usually at a knot. Now there are exceptions. One place is if you get a Professional Overrun on a baitcaster. Not often but at times I guess the line digs into itself and gets damaged. Not easy to see or detect but I have sent an occasional spinnerbait a...

    Teach me about skirts

It is that simple. If you get those. Others have the bands and dont come off a cleanly. I make my spinner/chatterbaits and jigs. I buy the skirt layers to make custom color skirts. I'm pretty picky and want specific designs.

    Frances E Walter Dam

The lake is up 31 feet. I was there last on 3/2. The lake can change very quickly, several feet in a day. There is really 1 road that runs across the bottom of the dam. Its only visible when the lake is less than about 1310. One side has the kayak launch the other side is the powerboat launch...

High water has no affect on fishing.

Youre talking about two different things. Lakes can be tricky. A lot of times they will follow the water and go up with it. Not always. In summer when the weeds get thick I've seen the fish stay put on the edges. FEW is a unique situation. Today its 30 feer higher from when I was there on March...

    Baitcasters

Tension isnt set correctly. Also something you might want to try. Keep your casting elbow tucked against your body when casting. It takes a concisous effort at first but it makes a difference. Try it until you get more comfortable with that set up. You cant cast like its a spinning rod. Also...

This weeks tackle talk. What color powerbait

I was in the same situation. When my boys were younger a jar of orange and a jar of yellow!! They had fun. I would take my rods and set them up, not fish, to block an area from the other sportsmen

    Ice update

Sad day 😢😢😢.Looks like the last day on the ice for the season. FEW was not fishable so I hit Lackawanna. Caught over 60 of fish. Lots of tiny gills. Kept 1 calico and 11 gills. Still 9+" shore was solid heading out but look suspect in several areas coming in.

I use the Hound Dog on an old broken baitcast rod. A junker reel with 80# braid. HD is correct. I've wrapped the braid around a boat cleat and move logs
