Not 100% sure how there going to ride yet up or down some I’m trying to tie them for either.

Only 10 feet really wow most of the time I’m trying to cast 25 yards or better. At that distance you can use some monster stuff. Are you fishing a current?

A lot of the giant musky flys are boat draggers there pretty much impossible to throw for any amount of time.throw them into the current from the back of the boat.If you plan on pitching these things all all you want them to look Hugh but be lite and dry fast.

Try very steady retrieves but slow and let it sink (wet fly ) way longer than you want just keep it off the bottom take your rod and pull it sideways slow and steady then take up the extra line you created in the pull best I’ve found for gills

You normally make a loop but regardless it is not metal to metal it kinda hard to explain but take those hooks you have run together and spin it you will see that it will go around in circles just think if you had materials tied to it tangled mess hope it helps
