Should’ve picked the baby’s then just stick them in a bowl of water. I found once they come up that’s pretty much it for them. The water will make them get a little bigger, then when done soaking them I take the water back to the spots and throw it there. The water should have spores in it.

I’ll give the deer hair a try I know that does float great.

Looks like what I thought. I see a lot say use floatant. I used foam for a under layer on a dry fly hook then used synthetic materials and also used polyester thread. The thing sank like a rock. Back to the table to see what I can do.

I see dry flies are pretty much feather and dubbing. If I tie this even on a dry fly hook it gets water logged and sinks. So how do you tie a dry fly that doesn’t sink. Melvinp I need help.

On your 8wt put 20lb mono to 10lb mono. That what I usually run around with but sometimes I can go to a 6lb mono.

I like the batter and fried up but sometimes they give a heavy feeling in my stomach so I’ve just been frying them up and put some on my steak.

As for the head use thinner thread or just don’t wrap to much when you start. For the hair not laying flatter take and behind the eyes make two wraps loose to just hold the hair down then tie tight up front.

Gotta love the stonefly patterns. All my flies that I have tied with my puppy fur has all work great for me. One thing tho nappy it’s not a jig hook. Lol.

Don it's all on how permanent you want it to last. You can try nail polish it might work for you. Nothing last very long even powdercoating it. I have had some(powder coated) jigs used it a couple times in Rocky areas and the paint is off to a plain lead jig. I've used rust-oleum spray paints...

Most paints will chip and eventually start to come off. The only thing I can think of is powder coat it. The other thing is to paint it and stick a clear epoxy or some waterproof finish on it.
