I've used the offset hooks a lot for soft plastics. For the big one I would just turn the hook around and stick the point in the bait. I don't think I've ever used the other kind you have pictured, with the keeper barbs.

Does anyone not pitch the holes? Like, does anyone try to hit a pad or a clump of gunk? I know with frogs sometimes landing them on a big pad and then puling them off attracts a bite, but other than that?

Wow. I hate to hear that. I did a contract with Wellspan in Summer of 2020 at Good Sam here in Lebanon and they really had it going on. They had the best isolation procedures I have seen throughout this entire thing. Sad to hear they are falling apart. It seems like more and more places are.
