American Made

I feel that our country deserves any help that we can justify giving it. Not the leadership but the manufacturers and producers. To that end I did a short search for USA built reels in Baitcast, Spinning and Spincast reels. Hardly anything out there. A few of the many Penn's are made here....just a few. Kast King is about the only one who's full lineup is made here. Lew's moved to Korea. There are more but they're all in the high end realm. Gremcat and Troutspinner would even be hesitant with those.
Has anyone used Kast King products? It seems they're moving or have just moved to china as they have a Chinese office now.
It may be that we will have to go back to sticks and cotton string if we want to use American stuff. Come to think perhaps the greenies in control out there won't let us manufacture these.

Well, China uses what is virtually slave labor and has a semi controlled economy, and US regulates the hell out of everything driving up cost to do anything here. The only way to stay in business is to manufacture someplace cheaper. Not sure how South Korea does it.

China seems to be moving away from the economic loosening of the 80's and 90's that got them all the manufacturing. Maybe they will collapse before we do and manufacturing will move again (probably to up and coming Africa). But unless we seriously deregulate and stop inflating it won't come back here. I do mean actually deregulate, as in eliminate regulations and do not replace them with more. When politicians say deregulate they actually reregulate and increase the regulations.

Remember when people used to complain about made in Japan, and made in Taiwan, and hecho in Mexico, instead of made in China?

Look at made, manufactured, or assembled in the US. All require varying degrees of US sourced components. 100% made in US might still not be fully sourced here. I forget the nuances around it all but it’s not what it appears.

Where are my SKS guys, with the 922R game back in the day?

Let's see, if I add a tapco trigger pack, and a US made op rod piston and extension (has it been that long that I don't even remember?), and a US made magazine how many American parts are we up to?

Have to remember, China’s only resource is people. They rely on trade partners for raw materials. There’s so much intertwining of currency/debt between China/US/most other countries that we are all tied together unless the USD as a global currency and fiat in general defaults.

Yeah that was the post Bretton Woods thing; tie all the currencies together and use the dollar to back all the others. Back the dollar with promises and IOUs and cobwebs. We will all crash together unless someone is smart enough to get out first. Saddam and Qaddafi were both going to do oil backed currencies but then, well, you know.

Haha. I remember AK's being done that way, when parts kits were cheap and plentiful. Us made reciever set, trigger, magazine for compliance if I remember correctly. You can count parts individually, so the mag can count as 3 parts (body, spring, follower). You need 9 parts for compliance.
