I have realized that I may not be the brightest bulb in the pack. In my defense, I am part polish and I really do embrace it at times. ;)

I went to Blue Marsh today, I turned the radio on and what was playing, not sports radio! I forgot, up there, 94.1 is a Hispanic station and overpowers WIP. Grrr! It sounded good though. It should work at Nockamixon.

On the bright side, I found a bunch of these guys on a secondary point of a creek arm and it turned out to be a great morning.

Not many know this but the famous 'Mexican Border Music' has Polish roots. during the 20's Polish Texans cranked out their polka music on radio stations and it was heard circularly throughout the 'border country'. Mexicans loved it too and took it and tricked it out. I often listen to it when in CA on business. It is okay on the radio but in person with a live audience it is totally awesome.

Don't forget the Germans. Some of my ancestors (the ones that weren't Irish, Scottish, or French) also brought squeeze boxes from Germany. Fortunately the lederhosen never caught on.

Born and raised in San Antonio, and lived in San Antonio, Corpus, Sabinal, and Laredo during the course if my life. Grandpa used to say the only thing wrong with Mexican music was when they started singing ;)

Now that is some interesting history there. Having been to way too many polish festivals I can understand the influence with mariachi bands. I’ve seen stories on the history channel where they’ve stated that music in the US originated with the Appalachians which in turn, was Dutch / German influenced.

, was Dutch / German influenced.
And Scotch/Irish.

TC that is cool to know. but after a while the voices sound correct and that goes back to the live vs a recording that I mentioned. I'v had Mariachi at my table in restaurants and it was uncanny good. Same at festivals.

I like to listen to audio books and podcasts via my phone. I use wireless earbuds. Sometimes I do say "Where did that damn thing go?" But I know it hasn't gone far because I am still listening to it ;)
I do the same, missing my AirPods from trip but luckily had another set for tonight’s outing.

Try a Vietnamese “100th day” party. Basically a baby shower after the baby is born. We showed at 8 pm for a 6pm party and where the first guests. They trickled in until midnight including all ages of kids. The garage was a big tv, karaoke machine, couchs on 3 sides, and two fridges double deep Heineken with stacks of cases on the floor as backups. Music is sort of nice pan flute type romancy stuff, sappy and sorrowful. Then they all start crooning and it goes until 8-10am I’m told. I blamed our oldest who was 10-12 then and bailed after 1-2 songs lol.

One thing I miss about Raleigh was the people and all the get togethers with 10-20 countries food/culture present. A lot of good friends we haven’t seen in 4-5 years now. It’s true after becoming real close with more Ukrainians, they can handle Vodka and about everything else like we do water. Met some as a kid that drank a bottle or three socially at dinner. Our closest friends in Raleigh and their extended families had the same patterns but I couldn’t tell if they were stone sober or not. Used to offend them when I abstained. Great people but I’d weigh 500 lbs the way they fed me, lol.

I must have odd shaped ears. I just can’t get AirPods to stay in. That is why I won’t bring them on the boat, they’re guaranteed to end up in the water.

Hahaha, maybe

TS, same problem here. I also seem to misplace the tiny case a lot. The larger JLAudio set stays in better even after the rubber ring fell off on one. I like the light weight AirPods but they’ve fallen a few times into mud puddles and almost into the river a time or two. Might just get the lanyard for them if they turn up.

I do worry all that radiating energy in my ear will give me cancer. I burn through at least a book or two a week. Heck, in my older vehicles I even drive with them in since the head unit isn’t Bluetooth. Been meaning to look for a good quality but affordable headset and swap my 7.3 SD and Sienna stereos out.

Good Mariachis are a real treat. When we were kids my brother and I loved to go to Mexican restaurants that had Mariachis that would go around to all the tables. Most of the ones I was familiar either got rid of them, or closed completely before I left Texas in 2002.

Along the border bean and cheese soft tacos are referred to a Mariachis. We called "breakfast tacos" in San Antonio. I asked a co worker in Laredo why they called them that and he said "Because they are short, fat, and full of beans." ;)

My wife has the same problem with airpods. I use her old Bose soundsports which stay in better. Both cars have bluetooth audio so I only use the earbuds when not in a vehicle.

I couldn't give you a weekly total on audio books, but I listen to them and podcasts while driving, charting, doing things in the office at work, doing housework, fishing, loading and unloading the kayak, and I even have a waterproof bluetooth speaker in the shower. Basically anytime I don't have to interact with another person I am listening to something. I'll do books for a few weeks or a month then podcasts for a few weeks or a month.

It is, or at least recently used to be, illegal to cover your ears with headsets when driving in PA. When driving and am using earbuds I use only one side.

Hahahaha, I have the metal can too and I don’t see the “Bait Up” in your pics,,, I like the setup though, come back during spring and you’ll be a devout believer,

Watch the size 4 eagle claws too. The loop isn’t connected so if you roll something like 4lbs Seaguar Blue Label your knot slips off sometimes. Tackle/Auto mechanic guy in Hazleton has a wall of monster trout/steelhead/salmon pics. Said he’d never heard of a leader slipping off a hook. I had the issue 3x that week alone. I really like Owner Mosquito Lights but they are missing the barb so minnows/shiner slip off some times even punching back through their body. Honestly, for soft biting fish I’ll roll with a wire treble and 2’ leader then thread tiny fatheads which are way tougher than any shiners seem to be. I’m going to try the AK Salmon trick one of these days and buy bigger bait then cut heads off at a downward inside angle before threading. Injected with anchovy juice its murder on AK Silver’s.
