I hope you had time to try it now. And I’d like to know more about what you look for in a Ned rod. I’m not sure I’m in the same price category as you and A-5. But I’ve been looking at some of the cheaper Shimano’s for next year.
I have not. While I will admit, I am fair weather angler, LOL cold aside, work has just been busy. I am hoping for this week.

I have however ran Neds and Senkos on my 703c as a comparison which led me to choose this new 702c. The backbone and tip are just a little bit lighter and that tip will make casting light line a little nicer with less backlash.

For a Ned Rod, I am looking for a medium light to medium backbone and a fast tip. I don't want much give to the tip, if it is too spongey, you'll have a hard time feeling structure so I want it to be firm and bounce back quickly. The lighter the feel in hand, the better the sensitivity to feel bites. You will however pay dearly for that light and sensitive feel.

I’m a fair weather dude as well. However I fished for one hour today at promised land. Almost makes me an ice fisherman ya know! Next year I feel the need to work on acquiring appropriate rods.
So for Neds you prefer light or medium power with fast tips? That is actually the direction that I’ve been going for skipping kieteck in May-June.

I prefer medium so I can take the upper hand and not have to play fish too long.

How did you make out there today Don? Was there any ice? We stopped over at Tobyhanna after Mike's haircut but there was ice all along the shoreline so we were unable to throw any lures out.

I went to Lower lake and was just tooooo cold. So knowing that the sun shines straight down Hidden Lake I went there. I took two Slip Bobber rigs and chucked some worms out there. One they were out I took a third rod and tied on a "dark brown trout medium size" Kastmaster onto it. Got my limit in 1/2 hr and caught some more for fun. This is a direct result of out conversation with A-5, Melvin and Michael. Worked super good on these dumb Stockies. Never caught a thing on spoons before so this day has been a milestone for me.

Spoons aren't my go to but I've caught a lot of trout on them. How was Hidden? Was it weeded up?

The weeds are falling fast now. I was able to fish the Dam without tagging too much weed. I've fished the whole lake from top to bottom and the dam end is actually the shallower end. The deepest part is only 6' deep and is half way up the lake on the right. Casting Spoons

There's a deep hole on the opposite side of the dam in tbe back. I can't spot burn at this point, I have caught fish in every part of that lake.

26 inch Pickerel, 23" LM, 12 inch Bluegill, 16" Crappie and loads of large stocker trout.

It is well known by now but despite the weeds it was a favorite spot of mine. We don't go as much with the pressure it gets but pound for pound it is a great lake.

I have a schmall Accurst model. Its nice. I'm a Push-buttoner these days. I see why folks like Accurists. But, like DonM, When I do fish with a spinning reel I prefer a Mitchels and other classics from the time before man. 304 Mitchel or a Langley/Zebco 822 are my faves.. They're just plain simple and always work.

This past spring I took the grandkids there and son. The Lake is sooo shallow. When standing in the drift boat you can see the palominos swimming from afar. I pointed them out to the grandsons. One Giant Pally went right under us.

Where your last photo is its a giant spawning zone. TC and I took 19 big males out of there in May or June and No! I don't feel unsportsmanlike like, lol.

That is one heck of a Pickerel!

With all the folks you see there, once on the water, it is not crowded and very quickly you realize how little of the lake is fished by shore fishermen.

The funniest thing is that I began fishing there because of how many folks mentioned that there were allot of big Pickerel there. Been there probably 10 times and have not seek nor caught a Pickerel there. I'm gonna change that but no luck yet. I've also never caught a Crappie there.

I'm pretty sure you were one of the ones that pointed out this great little lake on the old site.
