Might've been some caddis coming off, they emerge quickly, trout chase them up and their momentum will sometimes propel them up out of the water.Must’ve been something hatching that drifted in the current. I watched dorsal and tail fins for hours emerging on the surface in a deep medium flow channel. Never witnessed porpoising with trout before. Water temp came up by mid morning and last reading was over 70. They stopped when sun came out of clouds. Maybe making up for the last few weeks of dry heat and hot water temps.

I bought a Cortland 10-foot noodle rod just for the Salmon River, never used it after that trip.That rod is a crappy salmon rod I ever had. It is a Okuma SST the best ride I’ve ever had for Salmon. Favorite rod I have for salmon is a fish eagle 54 from Cabela’s believe it or not 10 foot
