Pics or it didn't happen will have to suffice for this post today as it didn't happen! Today we visited Raritan Bay for what we anticipated as the last visit we would make there until Spring. Launching out of the Atlantic Highlands, we were hoping to round the Ammo Pier and pick up where we left off from our last trip but the better experience told us it was a pipe dream, and it was. Womp Womp Womp.
We followed the reports and headed way up the Bay to the Raritan River and did find a few schools of small Stripers. I only managed one 27" and one 20". The other 3 guys on the boat, nothing. We did hear of a good report after docking, that boat had caught 17 out front of Sandy Hook and they had 3 keepers on board. Hindsight says damn, we should have went out front but the realist in me says we made the right choice to guarantee putting the boat over fish.
I doubt we visit the salt again until spring unless we get one of those freakish days where its 60 degrees and wave conditions are perfect.....doubtful!
