I lowered my standards, held my nose and went Stocked Trout fishing today. Martins Creek paid off. Eggs didn't work. Trout magnets didn't work. TroutSpinster's Snooky Deluxe Spinner saved the day. These simple spinners have a great action and feel good when retrieving...brought back good memories of fishing the Tohickon Creek in the last century. Caught my first keeper of the year on my favorite classic spinning reel...an early 60's Mitchel 304. With bright green 4lb Kastmaster line it fishes well with spinners though I'm not sure what colors to use for what.

Onward. Fill that freezer!

Is this the size you use for small streams or did you use an even smaller one? I like the simplicity of the bead arrangement and the draw speed needed to activate the spinning.

They are the ones I use on small streams. I do not make anything smaller. I have caught many trout in Martins using them. ;)

This seemed right for martins creek. Have to watch how hard to cast but I find it relaxing. With under hand tosses it covers the whole area. Don’t think I’d use it on the Hosensack but then I no longer fish the hosensack.

I use it everywhere, even the smallest stretches of the Nescopeck or Six Penny if you are familiar with any of them. Both of those streams can get 5’ wide at spots but those little Brookies don’t quit.

How long are those leaders? I think I just head the same back ground music in a used car commercial. Looks like fun.

24” 8 lbs on the nose. He cast, hooked, and landed in the heavy flow by himself. My daughter fell in up to her waist so we left as they tallied winners. She had a few hook jaw Brookies that looked a little big for natives but not our stockies and a wild brown. He won 5th for his age group. I’m wiped after all the early days. Seeing a dozen kids with lifetime sized trout was worth it. Big fish was 28.5” @ 12.8 lbs i heard. The hatchery manager fished with his daughter after and she caught a 29.5” @ 13.8 lbs rainbow. He thinks it’s the big one I posted earlier but the markings and overall width are very different. Biggest Palomino was 27” range. Brownie was 8 lbs range and forget length. I’m off to Atlanta up @4am and land Friday. Last spring stocking is Sat. Then just hatchery repairs and grant writing with a few Board meetings sprinkled in until Nov. I might get a chance to fish myself. Starting to think maybe I’ll target a different species. Maybe something salty?

Happy as I was to see the creek drop and clear some just hours after flooding stopped it was gin clear today. It doesn’t hold water well with wide eroded banks, smooth slate, and straight run to Lehigh without many bends or narrowing.

DonM took me to Manasquan inlet to talk to the fishes. None spoke back. We’ll try again. My son catches Striped Bass there and I Hear it is great for blues from now through May. Good job with the kids and the big trout!

Leader line 6lb blue label 18”. Some use 8-10lb shot line leader. Which adds another 2’
It seems like a short leader. When I watched your musically supported video I saw that your floats are, what appears to be anyway, 6 feet from hook. Why not use the leader material that long. Pretty cool set-ups. Just thought the leader would be longer. Nice work !
Oh, when you say blue label May I assume you mean Seguar?
Is there any reason or any difference to use floro line for leader or must it say leader on the label? Is there a diff btwn line vs leader?

Yes line usually thicker. Blue label is leader line. At $10 per 30mm. I can’t afford the long leaders
