Bunch of first all in one fish. First trout from Shahola Lake. 1st time catching a trout on a paddle tail and first time I caught a trout in a lake this late in June.

After that was 2 Perch, one was a quality that escaped right before a photo, 3 Bass and 5-6 Pickerel. It wasn't on fire but it was a grind it out good day on the water.

Nice MB3. Never thought you'd catch trout there either. I looked up those Blakemore Jigs and they look handy for sure though I hate curly tails I bet they'd also work with 2 and 3" Kieteck minnows.

The large perch was on a 2.7" kietech. Hands down Kietechs are our favorites. They almost bend in half when hooked right when they swim. They tear super easy but they catch fish. I can live with that trade off.

Only one small creek chub, but I spent a good amount of time trying for this guy.

We were doing some hiking and I packed my little ultralight rig. I'm going to return with reinforcements though. 😂

Found some cool campsites and lookouts in my travels though. Definitely going to setup a backpacking trip that includes some fishing in the area.

Tell us about your ultralight rig.
I have two I'm playing with for packing in. One is a Cabela's rod 5'6" two piece ultra light with a Sedona reel, the other is the ugly stick version of a "dock rod" @3' long with the reel it came with. I'm leaning towards the Cabela's rod for short trips and maybe the little ugly stick for longer ones on small water.

I'm considering getting a tencara setup too. They're hard to beat from what I hear on the internets.

Some where Don posted about catching callico in deep water and the blakemore or pony jig would be awesome in that case sorry Don I gave up looking where you posted.

Those rods are 4 piece?

I want to get something in the next year to pack when I fly back and forth from Utah

No, I have tried one of those and found it too flimsy. That's why I'm kinda looking for a tencara. I have one of those telescoping rods I keep in my big truck and it's okay. Not as sensitive as I like, but it'll work in a pinch. Might be because I've only tried the el cheapo models from Walmart or Dunham's though.

Bcat: I am graduating. Slowly getting away from the older fiberglass which I still like for Gills. I'm migrating toward stiffer rods that can chuck heavier stuff. This Piscifun Serpent Rod that I just got is awesome. I may build one like below.

Boot: I doubt I'll use the fly rod for anything but Gills and panfish in spring and fall from now on. Maybe for winter pickerel.

They look interesting. I might have to check one out. Thanks
