Ferrules hollow, how to fill

? The mini pin has hollow ferrules, bugs me to no end, add $15 and plug the things, preferably with a friction fit material,

For the rod builders what do you do if your blanks have hollow ferrules other than buy better blanks?

I wrap them.

Is that because wrapping will flex and filler won't?

I mean both ends are hollow, the end that inserts is hollow too, not sure how wrap on that side would work, unless you wrap below the friction fit depth so it doesn’t interfere.


I did wonder if it was weight or action related but even my soft action BP rods designed for a unique action have at least wraps on the one side and a plug end with a rubber piece. I do have an issue on that one. The wrap is coming loose or something and it sometimes slides off. It was a semi inexpensive rod listed as Editors pick by OL one year for being a glass rod with classic action the year it was reintroduced. I could maybe wrap the insert end too but the hollow end is definitely loosening.
