I tried them years ago, had the entire rig get caught up more than anything else.

It’s attached to the swivel at the top with a leader main line is in the middle it’s meant to drag through the water with just the tip of the wire bouncing off the bottom keep your bait just off of bottom the amount of the bouncers length

Oh yeah very good possibilities to get snagged up meant to be let out slowly while moving or dropped off the side straight down until the wire hits bottom then drug slowly along never casted.

That looks good. I have little to no experience using them but a couple buddies do. Lake Oneida buddies run crawler harness with them. I'd bet Carey, Slocum would be good places to try. I'm told they are a nightmare in weeds. On rocky bottoms the weight will create an attraction sound banging into rocks. On soft bottoms the wire dragging will kick up silt. There is a learning curve on getting on the bottom but not getting hung up all day.

Mel, would a piece of 15 lbs line with some shot crimped on below a three way swivel not be the same action but only break off shot sections if it hung up? To get that much weight maybe a heat shrink slinky or two with small shot in between to pull free if hung up? It looks like a trolling setup and I’m wondering if so would it tear up your rod when it hangs up? My brother is hard on stuff and only bottom bounces or free drifts. Im forever testing ways of weighing his line down that won’t end up with a tangled mess. I’m about to tie on a piece of leaded line honestly.
He was using the Z one piece with 6 lbs copolymer main line and a long 6lbs Seaguar Blue Leader on his big brown so I’m hoping I’m wearing him down. He’s a tie a hook to a line and a piece of worm with no shot stalking native Brookies 40 year old so it’s not easy. I can’t even hardly get him to use a swivel but I’m forever respooling poles he’s lost all the line off to snarls.

Nope, I’m not a lake fisherman much these days. MC creek is usually my favorite but this year it was ridiculously low and just didn’t spend time on it like I normally do. I found 3 other local steams to investigate as well. MC Creek is a lot of fun when it’s high. When it’s low it’s no fun at all, so boney the few runs with water have people standing on each other’s shoulders.
