Fresh for sure just give them a little squeeze they should feel pretty firm not to soft all the rain we’ve had is pretty hard on puffballs they suck up a lot of water.They will taste like what you put on them they don’t have a strong shroom taste but not bad but as normal try a little before you indulge too much whoops pure white inside not tan of yellowing there shot at that stageI hear they got to be really fresh. It looks like a feather breast from Whitlock or someone. lots of detail.Another big one might make a couple good meals and may be some soups. Or in gravy.
