Appreciate that! I have to do a major overhaul with this trailer its from 1965 and looks it. Its got no lights and a winch that looks like its original. I have a welder that is going to come weld the hinge halfway down from opening, no clue why they would think thats a good idea or design. Maybe if youre dumping it into a pond and leaving it there, but I would rather it not pop open while towing it again.Nice rig. Dont overlook trailer maintenance. Grease the wheel bearings, use WD40 or Blaster on the jack, winch and trailer coupling. When you decide you're done for the year cover the coupling with a couple plastic grocery bags after you spray it. Pull the drain plug and keep the trasom tilted down
Besides the hinge, I am going to citrustrip the whole thing then wire brush then paint with self etching paint. Replace the winch, lights, and tounge. My friend knows alot about trailers so I will have him help me with the actual bearings and all that type of maintenance. Luckily everyone I showed it to says its in good condition even though it looks bad. Super excited about it. I might even add a jack if tax season isnt too bad!
I am also planning on removing the scratched up stickers on the side, maybe repaint the painted section.
I know this part is just a wild idea and a possible pain, but I just really really want to see what it would look like to polish the exposed aluminum underside to a near mirror finish.
