Mono vs braid

When I become more adept at casting I want to learn punching mat. For that I plan to use Braid and will buy it then. To find the equivalent handling and feel should I go by line thickness? For an example Kastking 15lb mono is .014 and their 50 lb braid is .013. Will that be about right.

Yeah just get that lure snagged and try to break it loose Ugg there’s a bad side to braid too not less looking like a telephone wire in the water

Braid line too fluro leader. I learned the hard way to put some mono as a backer before braid. I thought my drag was not working properly, took it apart nope all there and working. Come to find out the braid was slipping on the spool. Snags I see at least 3 people a year break rod. By pulling like they are setting a hook, until SNAP. Try to walk either side of the snag, if that doesn't work, hold the spool and back out, or wrap a stick in the braid.
