It’s up to you have you tied with it and feel comfortable with it. Mono can be good cause it’s clear thread. Size all depends on what flies you’ll be tying with the smaller flies definitely go with the smaller stuff.

If you don’t care for it then just stick with the right color threads to match the flies or just get black or brown to match the hooks.

Tried this before a little. I'm not a big fan of mono but for some flys it does have it's purpose

So According to what you both are saying I should have it on hand for when I need a strong invisible thread like for Clousers and Deceivers.

Yes I’m told it bites into the materials better than thread.

Plus it floats more and better for dry flies.
