Looks nice to me but not sure how he controls thread tension. I built a simple one as well. Next step will be to get one with a motor.

With a half wrap on one of the pegs for one spring loaded spool mount on the other he likes the half wrap better

Yes and it has that antique feel which is wonderful.
It is intended to be a beginners step for folks learning to do make their own. Its how they were done and it has a certain charm. I want to learn epoxy though as it provides a more resilient product. I could make it without a motor but then I'd have to stay with it so long to manually rotate it.

Do you have the mud hole models?

Melvin does your friend use a turning motor on this?

You need some Bees's. Beauty is in the eyes of the BeeHolders. I think it looks classy-looking when it ages but realizing that not everyone likes that old look I've got my eye on the Mud Hole machine with the motor. then I'll switch to epoxy.
