Do you keep your catch or return?

I kept them one time fillet them. It smelled and the touch was very rubbery. Tasted nasty. One bite the rest got thrown away. When they start to die like that I wouldn’t eat them. Catch them fresh in the lake I hear they taste better.

Wow, Glad you mentioned it. I was thinking to smoke them. Won't wast my time. Lake caught sounds better.

Go get some trout. Smoke them they’ll be better tasting fish.

Well some but stock trout are horrible smoked. Funny, I usually use store bought Atlantic farmed salmon.

I heard a recipe once.

Take a fresh trout. Season to taste. Place on a mesquite plank. Wrap the fish and wood in foil. Bake at 400 for 30 minutes. Open. Discard trout. Eat wood. Supposed to be pretty good

The store salmon isn’t bad. As for stocked trout find where a club stocked them. They get better feed.
