Dobyn's Rods is having a blowout sale on some of their jigs and rods.

I honestly thought the prices were in error, 6 high quality 3/4 Ounce Football Jigs for just $6 so I did not post the sale when I found out about it. I did let A-5 know as I know he loves the FB jig as much as I do but I also let him know that I thought the price could be in error. Anyways, it was not an error. I ordered 30 jigs for $30 + $10 shipping. I am not sure why but they sent me 33 jigs. Nice! This is a $100 savings for me compared to the other jigs I buy and these are of better quality.

I fish deep often so I got use to the 3/4 ounce. Anytime I go lighter, I end up taking it off and going back to 3/4. Mostly a preference but I do believe the fast drop of a heavy weight helps to get it noticed.

I usually don't subscribe to the theory of "bigger baits, bigger fish". I find that that usually means "bigger baits, go home skunked". However,,,,,however I can be taught and I am learning. But I can say "smaller baits, never skunked".

Brown is what Troutspinster had on when I visited him. Looked like the same brown that some of my worms and other lures are. Okay. Brown to start.
They look perfect for punching through junk.

I don't target big fish per se but I like to throw things that are larger to keep the sunnies at bay.

Which colors should be in my collection? Pick one for now.

I like light colors for clear water and dark colors for dark water. If the places you primarily fish are clear, no mud, no algae, I would suggest white. Brownish, mud or darker water, I would suggest dark colors like a black and blue and If you are fishing algae green stained waters, something in the brown to orange range.

On my light little mitchels or my Johnsons if I reach back and toss it a 3/4 oz plug will sail into the next county. How far in front of you are these being tossed.

I’ll start with pumpkin and water Mellon.

Mother Nature controls the water color. I’ve plead and plead with her, she don’t listen.

It’s mainly a Bass technique. I’ve never caught anything else on them. I think A5 caught a catfish one time with them but I’ve also seen catfish caught with a crankbait, they don’t seem too picky.

I target marks I find on my finder so I’m only tossing as far as I need so to speak to hit my mark. Just depends on boat position. I do at times cover water with them and cast as far as it will go but I’m also using 15# line and usually a crawl trailer, that setup does impede the distance.

Okay. Picture of what a crawl trailer is. Sounds like some of the heavy equipment rolling into Ukraine.

I was picturing two uses. 1) prospecting on rocky, deep points on windy days and 2) punching through coontail in edges and alleys.

I toss them at whatever structure I can find. One thing I love about throwing a jig is that a jig is to an angler what brail is to a blind person. You learn the feel of everything on the bottom from rock to wood and even old wood. And then the tick of the bite, it just brings a smile to my face and the ensuing, got em!

Blind casting works also. A lot of bass stage off of cover then move into cover to feed.
