Thermocline: What do you know about fishing below it

Sorry I gotta laugh at his assumption on this. They say the thermocline changes in the winter so he must be talking about the summer. If you know smallmouth. Than you’ll know they do like colder waters. So I do believe they can be deeper in the hotter days. But something I’m sure not a lot know is it can be a migratory fish. It will leave the larger bodies of waters to spawn. Also to seek cooler water. If considered a resident fish than they stay all year round.

Saw it just the other day on the fish finder and under water camera and it is green from All the algae being pushed around at least where I was

Having talked to, or more accurately listened to Don about lakes, I think he could write the book on it.

yes TC but I’d be making it up. Lol.
I hadn’t any interest in lakes until I built this little boat. I wonder if all deep lakes turn or if some merely mix and chill down. One that I know turns is Upper Woods. It has a dramatic affect for ice fishermen.

I find this fascinating. I think that learning more about this will be a big help in understanding the deeper lakes.

If there was no thermocline then the cold water fish wouldn’t survive the summer and warm water fish wouldn’t survive the winter.
