Not exactly but with a dead minnow. Or put a bobber on it. Either way it’s done with a dead fish.

Um dead stick means live minnow with the tail cut off I do believe where’s nappy he started this lol never mind I’m sure he’s looking at an ice hole somewhere

Ahhhhhhh I use one rod with small splitshot 12 in up from hook. Live minnow on hook set in a rod holder. Just let the minnow swim. Don't muck with it just let it lay there like it's dead

While your fishing out of your other hole jigging spoons or bucktail or whatever. When fish come in sometimes they see the minnow just swimming around and go for it.lol

We always called "Dead Sticking" setting the rod in a holder and leaving it, regardless of what was on the hook. I do this a lot when crappie fishing, with 2 holes in the ice, one actively jigging and the other left alone in a rod holder with a fathead minnow on a bare hook with a small split shot.

Pretty much. However looks like most people do their own thing. I usually call any rod TC uses a dead stick. Cause most of the time no fish are caught.

Okay I'll try it. It seems that it is best done just outside of the zone of actively worked lures or jigs.
