This is how I recall making the bait, it's been 40 years since I made it. Mix 2 cups of cornmeal & 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. 1 can cream style corn blended, 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons vanilla , Boil corn, sugar, & vanilla. Add in cornmeal & cornstarch. Let it cool till able to handle...
I do think scents work. Do I think it works on my trout magnets (Gulp juice), I honestly don't know. But I do know no sense throwing a half bottle of juice away. So instead of putting a used bait in my plano, into the jar it goes, and doesn't dry out. I keep ALL the trout I catch (200 -250) and...
Now I'm not a real fan of power bait. But I use Gulp Alive products, and save the juice. I put my trout magnets in the juice.
I saw this today for the first time Power Bait dip (Roe). Has anyone used this?
I like a light the lightest action, for the water I'm fishing. with the exception of if I'm on a head boat, then the heaviest rod I have. The power also depends on the water.
I'll be making mostly egg sinkers, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/2, 2, 3, and some 1/8, and 1/4.
I'll hopefully order a jig for mullet, flounder fishing.
Are you from Southampton? I'm in Burholme/Fox Chase.
I'm guessing it took me about an hour & half. There were a lot of small weights, and I'm using a very small skillet. Plus I was making sure I cleaned the lead well.
Ordered the egg sinker mold to night.
Now am I right that I want to smoke the new mold before using it? I do know to heat the mold...
Well I took the advice given, I unseasoned my cast iron skillet. Heated my bottom pour pot, and dumped the lead, into skillet. Cleaned the pot while it was hot (a lot of crap was in it), and put some lead I cleaned in and melted it. Looks so much better now!!
Got the Coleman stove out, and...
Freshwater: hose down hip boots if muddy, rods/reels wipe them down.
Saltwater: Rods and reels get cleaned with warm water and dawn dish soap. Spools soak in a bucket of warm water 1/2 hour. Wipe everything dry, thin coat of Corrosion block grease in the rotors and spools. Every 3rd trip housing...
Okay another stupid question. I have a small skillet (2 egg) size. I had cleaned it up some time ago and seasoned it. When I use this, do I want to burn off the oil? Or just throw the weights in, and the oil will burn it's self off.
Thanks guys I'm learning!! However I do like the 1/2 filled small muffin tin.
I was surprised by the small area to add lead. These will good for that.
Now I do think I have crap at the bottom.
My plan is to heat the pot and with my welders gloves on, turn the pot upside down to empty it...
Hummm I read to leave some lead in the pot. But the next time I use it, I'll melt what's in it. And turn it upside down, to get the old stuff out. And re run the one's I did today.
Spent a couple hours, melting a little less than 1/2 the tire weights given to me. I got 8 pounds of pretty clean lead, I'm going to run it through again. I think I'll soak the other half in water a couple days, dry them and see if it looks cleaner than this time.
Weather was to nice not to go and see how the dual spinner works. So I pick up a rod and reel, and headed to the creek. spent about an hour. And actually caught 3 trout for the dog. Loved the action on the spinner, and caught 1 small trout.
