So While I'm Waxing Nostalgic, where is everyone from?

Whenever someone asks where I'm from my first response is always "Originally, or lately?" I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. After getting into my career field (Respiratory Therapy) I lived in Sabinal, TX and then returned to San Antonio. Later my future wife and I lived in San...

    Show off your Fishmas Loot!

I know all of those words were in English, but I do not understand them in that order. You were going down to the river, with your fishing gear, AND you were going to be casting. But you weren't fishing? That hurts my head. Wife was born and raised in Port Richmond, Castor and Aramingo area...

    Weekly Gear talk (wading boots)

Just have cheap Redheads from Bass Pro years ago. Probably as old as the waders. Don't use the much anymore, mostly switched to old sneakers.

    New casting rod.

It's better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission ;)

    Baitcasters

I should also probably buy a big spool. All I have left is the 6lb Bass Pro crappie maxx camoflage. I like it a lot on my spinning reels. But from what y'all have said I think it's too thin for a bait caster.

    Baitcasters

Sometimes I don't have time. Sometimes I don't have energy. Sometimes I don't have more line. Sometimes I don't want to waste whatever amount of line I have left on a spool just because I broke off or cut off half a dozen times. When I start seeing the knot that is the signal that now is the...

    Baitcasters

I cannot comment intelligently on whether or not to respool the bait caster. Spincast has been my nemesis, and you are the expert there so I will defer to your knowledge. But I don't agree about spinning reels. I'll fish them all the way down to the knot at the bottom with no issues...

    The fishing rut

OK, so we have previously established that Don is anadromous (Lake Erie steelhead), and that he will hit on smaller panfish than Melvin or Randy (Report from Wyoming county). Now we know that he likes to eat trout/salmon eggs. The evidence is mounting Don. We know you are only posing as a...

    Show off your Fishmas Loot!

Actually opened these Wednesday night, since this was my holiday to work at job #1, and I had to drop the wife off in Philthy Thursday, and make 2 stops for job #2. Apparently the Bait Up is back in production in 20 oz and 35 oz. It was a surprise. My wife knew how hard I had tried to find...

    Weekly Gear talk

I am thinking this is my reality now. My cold tolerance, and my patience with annoyance (like not being able to feel my fingers) have both tanked in the last couple of years. Now my hands get super dry when cold and have started cracking.

    Weekly Gear talk

Cabelas neoprenes, but they were leaky last time I wore them. Had them for ages. But as soon as it is not too cold I would wet wade, shorts and a t shirt. Honestly haven't waded much since we got the yaks.

    The fishing rut

Same here but I only wish I was fishing. Work, wife, and my total inability to make myself get out of bed early on days off have kept me away from the water
