Yes, and they continued to use it well after WWII. It was common in most of Europe as the police caliber through the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Also central and south America. America slowly lost interest in it, but it didn't even really go way down in popularity here until the 70's and 80's or...

Joe's right. A .22 in the hand is worth more than anything at home in the safe. Of course Mossad were ambushing people, so that is a little different. The Israelis also like to use a 10/22 to shoot "mostly peaceful protesters" in the legs. It seems to take the protest right out of them...

[Archived] What did you Buy Today?

I am reverting to more tackle boxes, and I blame all of you ;) I had fairly well settled on a limited repertoire of techniques, and carried about 2 to 4 3600 size boxes. But you all have me trying different stuff, and wanting to try different stuff and that requires more stuff, so this bag...

Yeah, I remember you lost all of your guns in a boating accident ;) You only have the double barrel to use when politician season opens ;)

To add an undesired bit of seriousness here, there doesn't seem to be a statistical difference between everything from .380 to .45 ACP at typical defensive ranges. Even the little difference in Evan Marshall's published data back in the 90's turned out to be artifact from the ability to get...

[Archived] What did you Catch Today?

In one of the books of fishing stories I've been listening to they mention milk cartons, back in the 40's I think. They rinsed the cartons out thoroughly, and let them dry. They would put a fish head down in the milk carton, fill it with water and seal it with wax, and stick in the "ice box"...

Don, I had a 9mm on my hip both times you have seen me. I carry all the time every place that isn't prohibited by law. There are a lot of lightweight subcompact guns out there today and good holsters that make carrying and staying concealed easy and comfortable. Blackcat and I are both big...

Anyone using Fishing Apps/Fishing Social Media?

Now that was cool. I Android I can't seem to find a "places" at least for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. However if I go to a particular photo, and then details. there is a map of where that photo was taken. Tap the map and it will expand into a map with all of the pics on it, each displaying...

So the general consensus is that the apps seem to be mainly for bragging and burning your own spots, and not really for collecting useful data. Cool. I guess I will abandon that project and continue to just drop favorite spots on the mapping app on my phone.

I'm still striking out with minnows. I've never been able to do any good with them. But I did receive some recent instruction from our resident minnow master, so that combined with stubbornness may yet accomplish something.

    Blue Marsh - Friday 10/1

I was halfway there Thursday when job #2 called so I never made it. Going to try next weekend, but now I had to switch a day at job #1 so I am working Friday. I might sneak out one day this week after other obligations are taken care of, if I can get them done early enough. Awesome fish. Any...

Anyone using Fishing Apps/Fishing Social Media?

I've messed around with fishidy before. I could never seem to easily to do what I thought I needed to do. something about it didn't mesh with me. The (no longer quite so) new kayak came with ads for ANGLR. I tried messing with it a couple of times. It seems a lot more in depth and perhaps...
