If your tying straight to a hook I would use something bite proof. A harder lure you might get away with it.

Don’t be fooled they say there sharp right out of the package and acid or whatever but for any toothy fish should be sharpened right away. I did that my first couple times thought they were sharp and lost fish now when I sharpen them a couple times my hookup is way better.

I found it can really slow down in the summer and I’m mean all fishing. They can hide in the sun but I think they go to colder waters. Best time to start fishing for a lot of things in the summer is when the sun starts to set. When it gets hot I go for fish that can handle it better.
