Got home tonight, 70 in GA, feels about like 50 on PA, if Ice holds on until Sun I hear it’s dropping again. Seems real early for warm temps but after 6 years here I’m convinced the climate is more volatile than Great Lakes regions.
A-5 is going to have a banner steelhead year so not challenging him. They count as rainbow and if I say otherwise I have to disqualify my new creek that’s full of steelhead/cuttthroat hybrids. Suspect I’ll have a few good days on that one this year.
Haha, my streak since Jan.1 is 0 in a row. In my defense I’ve fished 0 days. A-5 might be better served as his own Champion. My year is looking pretty crazy at the moment.
Don, you can’t call minnows Trout. Regardless of gas expended and hours wasted, they’s just minners! Starting to think I might do even better if I try baby trout for bait but breaking double digits lbs. and repeating a dozen times in Nov alone makes me think I think too much!!
If not for...
Some other weirdness with state from what I’m seeing. Fish lost aren’t being replaced at hatcheries, etc. Sort of new to this side of it but seems things are off like everywhere else. Fishing is my last vestige of tranquility so I hope it’s not systemic.
Tough to say, was a good year. The girls day catching 30+ over 20” in 1.5 hrs was the best day I can remember. Elaina’s friend having never caught one prior after 1.5 yrs trying to catching a bunch was awesome. I won’t share pics of someone else’s daughter online but my daughter is the cutest...
Yeah, my 3 yo low mileage 4Runner has more rust than my 00 Sienna and 01 7.3 crazy how much worse the cintering is vs. salt spray in less frigid locals.
Ha, after a dozen re-spools who knows. If I flew back one week to something over single digits I’d go check.
Sure wish GA had trout near where I’m at. Could drive a few hours I guess but southern trout just seems odd. Unless it’s Ark world records I guess.
Praying for you both. I was up and down. It’s weird to go from mostly recovered to can’t breathe and back in a few days. I’m a stubborn cus and hiked down icey trail to gorge yesterday and climbed 2k’ near vertical. Felt good to suck wind in cold air after 2 weeks of no activity. Tough to say if...
Finally through it here. Only one with booster and arguably the most active/healthiest eater. Lingered with me longer than the rest.
Scary part, my bio wife who worked in this stuff for years showed me a chart. Her sis is in a hospital system in NY. Without pause in seconds my wife said...
Had one of those huge ROUS’s on my leg hunting in a blind in brush pile. Shared stand with all kinds of critters and even buzzards over the years but that huge field mole thing that close to my groin had me sweating a good 5 mins until it scurried off.
Almost as bad, my first ground hunt I was...
Here’s the three shot pliers, gold pair are fly shop version, stainless rainbow little ones are Anadromous Fly Shop as are the larger ones I like the most.
Thx, I see a bunch on there but it’s tough to judge quality and size. Some of my pliers have a hole in the handle. If I use the hole with the clip it either locks them funny or gets in the way. I’ve used key rings through the hole or handle loop but it’s not much better. I might try cord or old...
I thought this thread would be catching ducks. I did that once retrieving a dead crawdad across a creek for smallies as a kid. Reeled it in flapping and fighting so my brother’s buddy could cut the line.
I’ve seen them in Cabelas, Hamburg I think. If memory is good they had a pretty large black crappy. We always called them Strawberry Bass up north and never saw the black variety. I’ve gotten a few up there as a kid when I couldn’t entice the bass. I’d put a tiny white grub on a closed faced...
That long hided chunk on the right belly looks like it needs to come off then, lol. I’m waiting on neighbor to help with fox and he think he has deer hide since I didn’t save any.
