    Only Crappie

Only one I ever caught down south and none since. I caught it in a pond on a brim buster. Thought it was taking the pole. Neighbor took it home in a pail full of shellcracker to eat. I don’t think I’ve pics of shellcracker but just imagine huge brim. This crappie was 2lbs 5oz. Texted a buddy...

    60’s record whitetail found

I’ve killed a boatload of 8 pts but can’t seem to get anything bigger or what I’d consider a pedestal wall mount worthy one yet. One was real close and I probably should’ve. It had a white stripe on its nose too. Came off Gamelands in N.C. onto the 5acre sliver I was hunting. I’m pretty...

    60’s record whitetail found

Stuff like this deadhead are what I dream of. Well, mostly dream of meat but if I dreamed of trophy whitetail. I picked up an awesome 6 pt deadhead more than 10 years ago. I think I finally broke down and cut the antlers loose when I split the skull capped racks in a bin in my garage for...

    60’s record whitetail found

Nearby deer was 14 pts and from early velvet pics in my yard looked fairly young to me. Just had lots of long points. Honestly, I was chasing a different deer 2 years ago when I spooked this one up to a neighbor. I like heavy mass, etc. to lots of tines or non-typical racks. If I mounted one it...

    60’s record whitetail found

Headline seemed to say it was announced today but article said they had already received a replica rack from actual mount now in MO or somewhere on display. Maybe old news but thought some might be interested. Pretty interesting symmetry and I’ve seen similar, though much smaller here at the...

    Weekly Gear talk (wading boots)

Can I reserve my vote until I wear them a bit? Lol, I had those Amazon generic DuckHunts or whatever but nothing to write home about.

    Weekly Gear talk (wading boots)

I heard horror stories on Boa but sounds like fish tales now. I’m pretty odd footed though. Need to try out the Korkers when I get home. I like the idea of Danners but not a Patagonia fan and it’s a lot to spend without trying them on.

[Archived] What did you Catch Today?

Just grieving you about it. A day on water is a good day. I hear good things about Schuykill. Been a few years since I tried it and was following directions my brother had based on his wanderings. It was a nice little creek but never got back there and no clue where we even fished lol.

clif notes, poor quality matters naught if the attention span moves on before a product fails. My generation, I’m a millennial by a few months, is shot,,,,,

I’ve read with CoPoly to try soaking in warm water before spooling. I’ve not tried that but the complete behavior flip was so dramatic it left a bad taste. I’ll tie a piece of string to a cane pole to keep fishing. I’ve very recently bent wire hooks back and landed other giants on them. I’m a Do...

Transoptic 6 lbs was a little interesting initially and I was sorry it casted so good. If it didn’t reach many many yards past anything else I might’ve unspooled it. After a few trips it settled right down and was great. I just spooled 4 lbs and not a problem in freezing or fluctuating temps.
