Tackle talk:What app do you use the most.

I didn't pay for either one. I might have gotten a free year of anglr for buying the Yellowfin. So if that is that is the case it will stop working this summer. I doubt I would pay for either, but I may give it another shot as long as it is free.

Tackle talk:What app do you use the most.

I don't know about fishidy, but with anglr you could make it private when I was messing with it. A lot of my places like Memorial, and Lakeside Quarry are slammed already. It doesn't matter if I post it. People are fishing there all the time. Not just at those lakes, but in the spots...

    PA’s big fish

Yeah sometimes the spawning beds overlaps in location and time. Mostly they breed at different times, but if one is late and the other early........ I got something out of all those years of fishing magazine subscriptions ;) Reproduction[edit] Cross-breeding of the true muskellunge and the...

Tackle talk:What app do you use the most.

Well, depending on the app and what it does, you might find charts and maps, locations where others have caught things and pics of what they caught. They might detail their techniques or baits. Anglr can map a route and add photos to it in the right place as you take them. You can choose what...

Tackle talk:What app do you use the most.

You know that phone down at the general store and the operator can connect you to kin folk in other hollers? Well, an app is a thing to make that a lot more useful ;)

[Archived] What did you Buy Today?

Those glowing ones will do really well in the Susquehanna around 3 mile island ;)

Tackle talk:What app do you use the most.

I have Fishidy and Anglr, but I only used them a little. Fishidy doesn't seem very user friendly to me. Anglr seems like a great idea but it's complicated and not always intuitive. And it seems like I need to do things with it at the same time I need to do other things like paddle, navigate...

    Little more trolling tackle

Yeah rolling i definitely a flat water pursuit. In the creek you will catch the bottom, and all the logs and other stuff on it.

    Northern Pike

We all need more action. Stiffer longer rods. Whipping it out of our tights. Wait, what are we talking about now? ;)

    Little more trolling tackle

Also a longer rod will help. I use the 6'6 and 7' rods for trolling because they get out more even if angled up and forward.

    Little more trolling tackle

Angle them more forward and up more. I have to be careful with mine or they will be in the way of the paddle. Scotty's are pretty adjustable. If we are ever together again with the yaks I'll have to play with it to see what we can figure out. Or get some rails to put on the sides.

    Little more trolling tackle

Yeah, I usually use Scotty rod holders pointing out to the side in the gear tracks in front of me for trolling. Both the Ride and the Yellowfin have tracks. Rear rod holders are just for storage and tangling up when you cast ;) Can you turn one of the ones in front of you off to one side?

    Set it When?

That's a good point to expand on. Sometimes it isn't a big hit or a splash. Sometimes your line does something else or something weird because a fish is screwing around with it. Sometimes a catfish or carp will pick up your bait and come towards you and you'll get slack instead of a tug...

    Set it When?

You could but the fish can't read the signs or the rules.

    Set it When?

What, like "Flammable gas in rear"?

    Northern Pike

Remember the elementary school rules; They have to make enough for everyone ;) Or at least me too

    Northern Pike

Lots of color and reflection is always good. I like the rainbow patterns in a lot of different lures because PA stocks so many trout that they train everything to hit colors. But I certainly wouldn't turn down those reflective lures.

    Set it When?

Well, there's the rub; you don't know whether to set the hook hard and fast or let them play with it first until you know what fish it is. And if your like me and you, we just fish for anything, so we don't know what it is until AFTER we set the hook, which we don't know when to do ;)...

    Power bait dip

Yeah, I never did any good with any of that stuff.
