    Cheap? Inexpensive and built well, lol. My first fly rod was a yellow Eagle Claw 8-foot. I finally somehow got one after seeing all the fish rising for insects.

    Trout season started a month ago, lol. I had good days Thurs. & Friday since creek flows have come down some and are more manageable. One week ago most were blown out. I've caught mostly 10-12 inch rainbows, nothing much photo worthy although my camera did take a dunking into the stream...

    Snow in the air and insects hatching with trout feeding on them, a little crazy but it is March. I got 7 or 8 small rainbows and one niced sized one with rosy cheeks.

    I found some gills and crappies willing to take top water poppers. Shallow water = warmer water during our early spring warmer temps. Crappies got active right around dusk

    No, I stick to ice fishing or creeks in the winter. I'm not against it, just not in the habit of fishing the Susque in the winter. I have ice fished on it though.

    If you throw line over your right shoulder one man can cast toward the shoreline and the other facing out toward open water. You can also backhand cast - rod in right hand, throw line off to the left and back across, but that's how I threw my shoulder out.

    I gave up using traditional dry flies years ago. The gills will tear them up. A balsa popper is ideal and holds it's float longer.
