The shorter the better, nothing wrong with a level leader, if you have 8wt line you will turnover the bigger flies.

Double surgeons knot for joining lines, Orvis knot to fly only. I've had no problems with it. Some big browns will attest to it ;)

I've always struggled with this when fishing for bass in lakes and ponds. What I discovered was the panfish and perch will bump the worm or try and get a piece of it but rarely get hooked.

I brought the fly rod, but only had poppers and dry flies. Just started to make the switch over from trout to smallies. There were some rises around dark but I couldn't get any action. Water is fairly deep right off the shoreline in that spot.

First time this year on the Susky for me, caught about a dozen, feisty but nothing big.

Yes I've seen that, it's a little extreme but pickerel on the fly would be a kick

Lost 3 to the trees, I blame the rain hoody, and a 2 fly rig to a trout that broke me off, which I honestly believe I hooked again and tried to horse him out of a woody area and pulled the hook free. I thought for sure I was going to get my flies back :oops:
