I've had decent results with powder paint but I use Devcon 2 ton epoxy (D2T) as a clear coat. If your really banging rocks I agree it still going to chip. It is very strong and resilient on chatterbaits, swimbait heads. Even for dragging football heads on softer bottoms like sand, mud it seems good.

I remember the old INDIAN JOE spinner rig. It was popular for walleye 40 years ago on the Pack and Carey and even Slocum. The old timers fished on a 3 way swivel rig. Always had the sinker bouncing the bottom.
